I was able to buy this pattern through an Arne & Carlos newsletter. It was called the Antarctica 2025 Hat.
When I saw this pattern I just knew I had to knit it for a whimsical group I’ve belonged to for over 40 years called “Saved the Penguins”

I improved each time I knit a hat!

These are quite tall hats and I definitely didn’t want to shorten the bodies. My favorite fit was done with these modifications:
US 2 for ribbing,(all knit stitches first row of each color change in ribbing)
US 3 Rows 1-19
US 2 Rows 20 - 35
US 1 Rows 36 - 59

Because the black and white showed catches in long floats I used Ladder Back Jacquard instead.
