11/11/11: I forgot how quick it is to knit gloves. As complicated as it looks, they knit up so fast. I’m using size 4 dpns. My gauge is 5 sts/inch (yes, I made a swatch). My daughter wants a ruffle at the cuff, so the green yarn you see in the third picture is my provisional cast on. I found a cool bell ruffle pattern that I’m going to attempt with this glove. I may be done with both before 11/16.

11/15/11: Something went wrong with my provisional cast on, so I had to completely pull the whole glove back and start over. I found some bell ruffle instructions (top down and bottom up) that would go well with the glove (pic #7). I thought I was getting down, until my daughter said the ruffle was too small. She drew a sketch of exactly what she wanted (my “regular” people do not understand the complexities of custom made garments), so I had to pull it completely back a third time. I started with the ruffle (from the bottom up - pic #9), and hours later, I had a finished “gauntlet” glove, called appropriately enough, the Meghann. I’m starting on the mate now, and should be finished tomorrow (as I predicted). Knitting gloves is fun.
