Notes

10/4/12: My friend requested that I make him some slippers. After searching and searching for the perfect pattern, I lucked up and found one on Etsy, for $5.25. I think it’s worth it. It seems quite easy and it’s knitting up quite fast. I don’t like the idea of knitting with 2 strands.

The top picture is not mine. It’s how the finished product should look.

An hour later: I got to the point where it says “until piece measures…” I don’t know if it means from the cast on edge, or from the last increased row. But it doesn’t matter because I just noticed I’m using the wrong sized needle points - 9! I have to frog it and start over. Hopefully I’ll get an answer during the time it’ll take to get back to that point. :(

10/5/12:
Pic #3 is the first finished knitted top. I hope I have enough yarn to finish the 2nd top (I stupidly bought the yarn before I bought the pattern - I didn’t count on using 2 strands throughout). I used the stretchy bind-off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abBhe-JYmgI&feature=yo...
Starting the 2nd slipper top now.

Three hours later (5:30 pm): I finished the 2nd knitted top. The invisible vertical stitch on the garter rows was fun (pic #4). Now I’m trying to decide on which bottom type. I think I’m going to start with the knit sole first, and use a crochet edge. I hope they fit him.

I love this pattern! I have to buy the woman’s version (wish she would have included it in this version).

12:41 am: Finished… hands hurt. The short rows were fun. I love short rows. The BFF also wants a pair in all black (I’m going to put orange felt inside, because he likes orange). On the first slipper, I sewed the felt once I crocheted the top to the bottom. On the second slipper, I sewed the felt onto the sole before I crocheted the top to the bottom, and that was easier… duly noted. I tried to put the latex on the bottom of the sole, but that didn’t turn out so well. It’ll probably wear off. I hope he likes them.

10/7/12:I started the black/orange slippers at 7pm on 10/6/12 and finished tonight at 8pm. I did a blanket stitch to attach the orange felt insole, and I added a single crochet border around the sole to make the top a little easier to attach. Wish I would have thought to do that one the 1st black slipper… lol.
