The original pattern was too cropped to suit me, so I added some extra rows and made up some more motifs (actually, from an old cross-stitch magazine) to fill the blanks. I love it. The substitute yarn was an excellent choice too: I got exactly the same gauge as indicated in the pattern instructions, Jamieson’s Double Knitting is a very cost effective brand and, after washing, it smoothed nicely. And it didn’t bleed!
