Notes

So… I did a thing slightly_smiling_face
I initially bought the color pack of Cotton 8 to do my CAL years ago. But ended up going with the larger size, and chose my own colors based upon these…

Then; I started to use this color pack on the Summer Mosaic pattern. Didn’t use the pinks at all, so ordered the additional yardage I would need and finished that one up.

Had a bunch of the Cotton 8 left over, so started the Jacaranda years ago. Recently dug that one out of hibernation and found a sale on the Cotton 8, and bought a few more assorted skeins.

Jacaranda is finally just about finished… Noticed all the yardage left over and looked at the initial Sophie’s Universe and realized I still had enough to do it too!

Last pic was thru Rnd 44. Currently on Rnd 45, which is the last round of Part 5. This is such a pretty pattern and I could seriously work on it all day, every day because I hate putting it down. :) Alas, I am trying to be a good girl and not neglect my other WIP’s. Back to this one soon.

~On Part 7 now and soon will be making those adorable little roses… this CAL so many years ago now was really one of the most memorable to me and it’s been a joy to revisit this beautiful pattern.

September 1, 2023

I keep forgetting to update this. I used to be more active on Ravelry, using the forums, doing CAL’s, testing patterns. It’s very different now; so long lapses between updates on some of my newer projects. (And so many that I never even put up here!)

Anyway, I’m currently on Part 9, Rnd 71. The last pics I put up were from part 7 & 8. I’ll try to get some pics at the end of this section.

The bad part about not updating are not noting tricky areas, and there were quite a few. I am conscious however about tension, and the piece laying flat. During the CAL so many years ago, with thicker yarn, I had some difficulty, even after blocking. Thus far, this beauty, in much thinner yarn - is coming along perfectly.

On part 13, and it’s coming along beautifully. My grandaughter wants it for her bed, so I’m looking at possibly going rectangular with some added squares on each end.
I have gotten waylaid with a spate of baby blankets being requested but I’m nearly finished with the last two.
I’ll put up pics before restarting, I’ve gotten a lot done since the last one.

I’ve been working on this one here and there…
Currently on Rnd 100 (Part 15)

Part 15 & 16 Completed
~Make certain your counts are correct or there will be issues with Part 17 and getting the first part of the diamond pattern to be uniform with the right amount of stitches between each one. (second part of the diamond pattern is done in Part 18)

February 9, 2024

Part 17 Complete.

February 11, 2024

On the last round of Part 18, (Rnd 113) which is the official end to this pattern.
I’m looking at 2 options to make this more rectangular. I can make some small floral squares and attach them to each end OR I can use a series of ‘stripes’ of colors in differing stitches and duplicate it on the other end.

Then add a border to the whole thing. I haven’t quite decided yet. But I’ve got a bazillion ends to weave in while I contemplate it. :) After which I may decide to go straight to a border… we shall see, lol.

All I do know for sure is that Kayli has been waiting for this blanket for a long time, and she absolutely loves it.

May 28, 2024

Whew, I didn’t know this was still in my WIP’s. I did a few of the squares, but she didn’t want to wait, or care if it was rectangle or not. :) So this has been finished for quite awhile now.
