I’ve been wanting to do this one for awhile. Recently a friend asked for a special blanket, made of light blue and white. Since she lives in Florida, I figured this sport weight would work nicely; and I’ve been doing pretty simple, easy patterns lately so I am beyond ready for a challenge. :)
However… I’m not sure yet on this. I’m having trouble with it being like a wavy saucer, lol. And it takes a bit to get this center to lay flat. I may need to re-start with a larger hook maybe? Not sure really, I’m not familiar yet with this designer. Then, if I re-start, I may re-consider colors. I’m not sure I like it with just two colors… I’m wondering about adding in just a dash of some darker blue(s) here and there…
Mulling it over while I also continue on a little more, just to see how this will progress, perhaps losing some of the waviness as more is added?

It’s laying a lot better now and I think this hook will be fine, it’s the size recommended for the yarn. This might be one of those ‘trust the designer’ pieces. And I’ll keep on with the requested colors as well…

Do Rnd 19 before doing Rnd 18 as the pattern hints, it makes it easier. That said - the Ruffle stitch is a pain in the butkus; so this round may take me awhile. :)
June 1, 2018
Yes, I’m still messing with the ruffle stitch! :) Seriously, I only want to do 3 or 4 at a time. Geesh, I’m a bad bad procrastinating crocheter! lol
~Defeated the round of ruffle stitches, yay! And they look pretty cool. Movin’ on…
~On Rnd 23 I had to use chain 4’s, ch5’s looked too sloppy with my tension.
~Rnd 27 I used fpdtr2tog’s, not trtr’s.

On an OCD note, the popcorns in the early round are evenly spaced, but for whatever reason it seems impossible to see in the pics.
June 3, 2018
Through Rnd 34 complete. It’s coming along beautifully. It is a very intuitive pattern; so there are times you will question something, it may appear odd or non-symmetrical… But keep going because there is a reason for everything.

Rnd 39 was more Ruffles… except this time I flew through them. See? Old dogs learn new tricks. :)
June 6, 2018
Ok, so I am STILL on Rnd 40. Geesh. It’s just really difficult to place the trc’s in the remaining loops behind the last round, and it took me awhile just to figure out how to place them properly so I end up with the correct count across each hump. I have 3 humps done and took a break yesterday to work on the baby ripple which is nearly finished. So I hope to get back onto this one today and at least get a few more humps done, lol.

On Rnd 43 starting out this afternoon. I’m glad I have a couple other WIP’s going currently. This one requires breaks for me. It’s not overly hard to understand or anything, it just requires a lot of focus. I’ve been doing a bunch of easy patterns lately, so this one makes me think and my brain is like, “What?” lol :)
June 9, 2018
Starting out the weekend nearly finished with Round 47, and I’ll get a new pic soon. My suggestion to this point is Count, Count, and Count again. :)
June 10, 2018
Working on Rnd 53 this Sunday evening… such a beautiful, intricate well thought out pattern. I’m a happy hooker!
June 11, 2018
Will start out with Rnd 56 today but will need to go purchase a couple more skeins of this yarn. There isn’t much white left, and very low on the blue. Even though the piece isn’t very large yet the rounds are packed with stitches and details resulting in lengthy rounds. I’ve really enjoyed this one so far, despite a few frustrations here and there. These typically were times when my crochet brain was saying no this can’t be, but the pattern was clear… :) The only way to know what I mean is to experience this project for yourselves. I’ve done quite a few intricate designs over the years… but none quite like this one. Astounding would be a good word.

Geezus! More yarn obtained, now it’d be nice to get off Rnd 57! I keep having to frog back and redo a section of it. It’s not tricky stitching, but it is tricky counting and a l-o-o-o-g repeat. I think I’m going to write this one out Line By Line, which usually helps me in situations like this. :)
Once I get this Round done I’ll get some new pics and measurements.
~Finally got there around 7PM, shoo! She’s 40” diameter (R57)… sort of, she’s not quite back to round yet but nearly there.
June 15, 2018
Haven’t had much crochet time the last couple days, but am starting off with Rnd 60 today. If I were to change something with the pattern it would be on rounds like this one. Just noting that many patterns like this often have long chained parts, like R59, PC’s with ch7’s between them. The chain is sometimes left free behind the RS if a round that follows soon after is worked into/onto the chain. This pattern states to work in front of the chain, but I don’t see anything coming that will need it, so I wonder why I shouldn’t work over the chain, tucking it safely away. There are already some free chains that weren’t worked on the back from previous rounds. In retrospect I’d try to work over them.
June 18, 2018
Well I plodded through several regular straight stitching rounds. Currently on R65. It’s just a simple ‘chained’ overlay round.
I just started a small test pattern though, so my attention will be divided for awhile.
June 25, 2018
The pattern test is complete for the most part.
On Rnd. 66 :)
August 14, 2018
I’ve been unable to crochet for awhile :( I had a bunch of major dental work done, and silly me actually thought that meant lots of extra time to crochet…. NOT. I’m coming around though, so hopefully I will soon feel more able to get back to my WIPs.
August 31, 2018
I’ve pulled this back out to work on in between CAL releases. But its that time of year when a bunch of awesome CAL’s begin, I’ve ordered yarn for 2 of them, and 2 others I’ll do with stash yarn…. But these aren’t starting yet, so in the meantime Ziggy gets my focus. Currently on Rnd 67.
September 1, 2018
Finished up Rnd 68 and took a look at the upcoming rounds in the pattern. I noticed that rounds 69 thru 73 do not increase the stitch count any from the 616 sts I just completed in Rnd 68. I’ve taken a look at some project pics of this and with me using only 2 colors I’m wrestling with continuing on, or finding a good stopping point.
September 9, 2018
So the friend that I am making this for is here in KY for a visit, so I got to get her opinion on the matter in person. :) She tends to share my view that squaring this beauty off may be just a bit too much than is needed. I think I’ll do a few more rounds on it and stop on Rnd 72. There’s quite a few awesome CAL’s getting ready to start, including one by this designer which I’m anxiously awaiting, so getting Ziggy out of my WIP pile is a good thing. And I get to save money on shipping because she can take it home when she goes back to Fla.
September 11, 2018
I ended up skipping Rnd 70 altogether because I couldn’t figure out how those
long stitches went, lol. There wasn’t an increase in the stitch count so I knew it wouldn’t matter… I just went straight to the fltrc’s of Rnd 71.
~Currently working on Rnd 72, the folded sc’s are looking awesome, as expected. Its a great place to end. But man, it is going to take quite awhile to get through all these stitches! :)
