I became a full time school bus driver at the beginning of this school year. I love my job so much! I love being the first school employee the kids see each day, giving them a smile in the hopes their day is a good one. I was even more excited when I realized I could share my crafting with my kids! Once they discovered I could make little animals they were constantly begging for gifts. I was overwhelmed until I came up with the ideas of the Treasure Boxes.

There is the Big Treasure Box and the Little Treasure Box. My Pre-K thru 2nd graders get surprised with the LTB at random. We pick the best behaved girl and boy and they get to come to the front of the bus and pick from the box. This was a great help. I was amazed how much the little ones wanted to be one of the chosen ones.

The kids on my all grades route were promised one toy from the BTB at the end of the year. This stopped much of the badgering, leaving me free to take finished toys on the bus and show them off with the promise that each toy would be available at the end of the school year.

As I have gotten to know them better I have made certain toys for certain kids and tied a tag around their necks. Sometimes kids have fallen in love with a toy so much I promised to tag them too.

Friday May 11th is First Annual Treasure Box Day!
