Sweater specifically requested by Erinn. Hopefully will get it done this coming Fall.

FINALLY getting started on this sweater. Exactly on gauge with #5 needles and new yarn selection. Got the short rows done on the back shoulder section and ready to work on the chart for a while.

Changing back to original yarn selection. Lost my notes from before so need to do gauge swatch again. Will be using #5 needles.

Actually been slowly making progress on this sweater, between other projects. Using the Lion Brand Comfy Cotton is working out nicely -- the yarn is a little splitty, so have to watch all my no-cable-needle-used-cables very carefully. Working on the body at the hip shaping part. And trying to figure a way to knit the pockets in place rather that sewing on patch pockets after the body is done.

Oh, Yea! Erinn tried on the sweater and looks like it’s going to be a perfect fit.

Finally down the body far enough to start figuring how to work in the pockets. I didn’t want to totally sew on patch pockets as I did on the brown version of this sweater I knit for myself last year. So I talked to a few knitter friends and looked at a few patterns and figured how to work the pockets from their top ribbing downward while knitting the rest of the sweater length. When I get ready to start the ribbing for the bottom of the sweater, I will go back and knit stockinette pocket linings from live stitches I have placed on waste yarn where I had cast on stitches for the pockets’ ribbing. So then I can knit the bottom of the pockets into the last row before the start of the ribbing at the bottom of the sweater Then finally, I’ll just have to stitch up the sides of the pockets on the reverse side. At least this way I’ll know the pockets are perfectly lined up and matching in position.

It is now time to knit the pocket linings and see if I can attach them as I knit them at the pocket sides on the reverse stockinette of the body where I left a column of reverse stockinette one stitch wide on each side of the pocket.

Hmmm - knitting attached pocket liners did not work out has I had hoped. I tried several different methods and kept ending up with lumping edges at one side or the other every time. Soooo… tinked back to the start of the lining - again - and will just knit them in plain unattached stockinette until they align with the row where they will be joined to the front right before ribbing for the bottom edge begins. Then I will just hand stitch the sides on the back. Which is what I should have done in the first place - oh well.

Body done. Starting front band. Pockets came out great!

Finished the front band, spaced out the button holes so that will only need 5 buttons (wood?).
Just need to get the sleeves going now.

Finally got the short rows on both sleeves done and had no problem with the basic short row wrap and turns and picking up the wraps on front and back - BUT - that final special “Super Deluxe Method” of picking up the last purl-side wrap and turn but picking it up on the knit-side - that just blew my mind! Got it done on the first sleeve I believe correctly, but screwed it up on the second sleeve and had to completely tink back to the beginning of that sleeve and do it again - and still screwed it up! I eventually got them done with no visible holes, but am not at all happy with the uneven look and back-side lump that ended up on both of the sleeves! At least they do appear to have been done the same way, so either both are right or both are wrong. Moving on…
Finally, now able to get going on to knitting the sleeves on one long cable needle working them 2-at-a-time in the the round.
Probably have to find buttons online - local craft stores just don’t have a very good selection of buttons.

Sleeves done to 16.5”. Need Erinn to try on to be sure I get the length she wants them to be. Buttons should arrive today. So, almost done with this WIP!!

Finished knitting! Need to get final fitting for sleeve length, sew on buttons, and block it.
