The pattern was relaxing to knit, with an easy to remember lace part, and looks beautiful. I made the largest size (5), which gave a soft and cozy shawl.
I also loved the concept to weigh the yarn and spare a given amount for the bind off. In this way, one will get out most of the yarn.
My gauge came out looser than in pattern, since the merino grew during washing.
Gauge unblocked, stockinette with needle 4.0 mm/ 10 cm: 21.5 sts/ 30 rows.
Gauge blocked in same pattern:
20 sts/ 28 rows = 10 cm
Used yarn amount total:
504 g/ 1048.3 meters (1146.1 yards).
Measurements unblocked:
A: 186 cm
B: 159 cm
C: 104 cm
The merino yarn grew a lot during washing. I had to block it larger than pattern measurements. I laid it out flat and carefully tightened the sides, to remove folds in the fabric.
My shawl was blocked to:
A: 213 cm
B: 177 cm
C: 121 cm
Measurements blocked:
A: 211 cm
B: 175 cm
C: 118 cm
Skeins a 50 g (most did weigh more than 50 g):
(1) 51 g
(2) 53 g
(3) 52 g
(4) 52 g
(5) 50 g
(6) 52 g
(7) 51 g
(8) 51 g
(9) 53 g
(10) 53 g
Total yarn amount when starting: 518 g/ 1088 m
(1 g = 2.1 m)
2% = 10,36 g
Details of used yarn amount:
(1) From start to 50 cm (8th repeat of chart B, row 7).
(2) to 73 cm (edge B).
(3) to 91 cm (edge B).
(4) to 100 / 116 / 60 cm (edges BAC).
(5) to 115/ 127/ 80 cm (edges BAC).
(6) to 128/ 140 cm (edges BA).
(7) to 135/ 153 cm (edges BA)
(8) to 147/ 165 cm (edges BA). 60 repeats of chart F worked.
(9) to 154/ 175 cm (edges BA)
(10) to end. 32 g left before working last pattern repeat, 24 g left after this (before I-cord). 14 g left at the end.
Stitch count in chart F, last row:
4 edge sts + 80 sts (sts 5-12 x 10) + 4 sts (sts 13-16) + 142 sts (repeats of sts 17-19) + 4 edge sts = 234 sts total.
