Love the design and startet at once!
After understanding that I had to “knit what I see”, it was easy to follow the pattern. A relaxing knitting process.
A note about reading the charts: WYSIWYK - what you see is what you knit.
My finished shawl - measurements:
From tip to tip: 69’’
Sides: 47’’ (both)
Found some minor errata in the material list:
Cable needle - is not necessary
Yarn: Oliver (CC) - 1 skein each - should be 1 skein, not 1 skein each
I used yarn from my stash. The working needle was US 6/ 4.0 mm. I used a DPN US 2 1/2 / 3.0 mm for the right edge in the mosaic part (see notes), and worked the bind off with this DPN, too.
Yarn - skeins:
Color 1 beige:
1.skein: from the beginning to chart B, repeat 15, end of row 6.
2.skein: to mosaic part, repeat 1, end of row 4.
3.skein: to chart D repeat 3, ca end of row 10.
4.skein: to end (rest beige: 6 g)
Color 2 wine red:
1.skein: to chart D repeat 3, end of row 4.
2.skein: to chart C, repeat 5, end of row 10.
3.skein: used for the last to rows and binding off (rest wine red: 41 + 3 g)
Notes:
In the mosaic part, I used a smaller DPN (US 2 1/2 / 3.0 mm) for the first 3-4 sts on the right side, to avoid a wavy edge. After knitting the first sts, I transfered them over to the working needle. I found it easier to control the edge tension in this way. It worked as intended. (On the left side, I just tightened the last sts a bit.)
I worked one extra repeat of chart C (5 times), to end with the dark color 2 (wine red).
