06/11/16 Finished!
06/08/16 Blocking poncho and hood separately, before attaching hood.
06/06/16 Ready to start hood. Decided against picking up stitches and knitting upwards, as that will put the seam at the top of the hood. I’d rather have it underneath as in pattern.
Completed back, joined to front at shoulders using 3-needle bind off. Worked beginning of sides in garter stitch instead of rev st, just a personal preference, pleased with the look.
Used this flexible bind off to bind side ribbing off in pattern:

While I think a flexible bind off is a good idea for this part of the project, next time I would knit all bind off stitches instead of K2P2, because now I have a bit of ripple at ribbing edge. Maybe that’ll relax in blocking …
05/30/16 Completed front, unblocked/unstretched measures 22” wide X 25” long. Used icord bindoff for center neck edge. Moved shoulder stitches to stitch holders instead of binding off. Front piece used approx 2-1/2 skeins. Almost finished back, with 2 more repeats to go.
Thinking about working sides in garter instead of rev st … Can’t think of a technical reason not to?
05/22/16 Thought my ribbing looked too tight, so re-knit on US9. Then switched to US10 for lace as per pattern.
Note: if you like placing stitch markers between pattern repeats, be sure to use removable markers, as you will need to shift all of them on second half right side rows (9, 11, 13 and 15).
05/19/16 I know this yarn is described as Bulky, but it’s so soft, with a loose twist and thick-and-thin variance, that I find it more like a heavy worsted. Got gauge on US 8s. Had 8 skeins in stash, ordered 3 more skeins to get to pattern yardage + insurance. Won’t mind having leftovers, it’s a lovely yarn.
