Using single ply silk yarn significantly changed the look and drape of this vest, but I am delighted with it.

I used only 2 yarns, and cast on 50 stitches instead of 40 for extra length, but otherwise knit as written.

I’m glad I cast on those extra stitches, as the “growth” as I knitted was in circumference rather than length, mostly in the front lace panels. This wasn’t apparent until I was more than halfway through, the first front looked tiny until additional yarn weight was added.

Given where the neckline is now, I won’t put on a button, but will either let it hang or use a shawl pin.

Yarn notes

Used multicolored Fiesta La Luz in Iris throughout, Tilli Tomas Soie de la Mer in Goldenrod only for side seed stitch panels and borders.

I could have finished with only 2 skeins of the Fiesta La Luz, but broke into the 3rd skein to knit the “all around” edging, which I really like - makes for a nice finished look. This took only 1 gram (4 yds) of the 3rd skein to do. Of the single skein of Soie de la Mer I have 35g (91 yds) left.

So I estimate that I used a total of 444 yds La Luz and 169 yds Soie de la Mer.

Pattern notes

Only one minor complaint: found reversing the first half instructions to knit the second half a bit more complicated than I expected. Would have been nice if the second half were written out.
