Test crochet for LillaBjörn (Tatsiana) - the sweater fits me perfectly, there is a size 4XL in the pattern!
Photos show me (size DE 52-54, US 24) and a friend of mine (size DE 58, US 28). The collage shows another friend wearing Huldra, she is 178 cm (5”10) tall - that’s why my sleeves are too short - and she normally wears a size DE50/ US22 with a bust circumference of 145 cm (4”7) - isn’t it wonderful that this sweater fits so different body shapes?
Thank you, Tatsiana, for a wonderful pattern that is so well explained and fun to hook!
Just a few annotations:
-
Because my row gauge is slightly off compared to the pattern (19 instead of 23 rows for 10 cm), I skipped 2 rounds just before Increase 2, making 5 instead of 7 additional rounds.
-
Started 2nd 50 g ball of color A with the last third of Increase 2.
-
Started 3rd ball of color A with round 19, 2nd ball of color B with round 18.
-
Used 118 g of Color A = 500 m approx., (skipped 2 rounds before increase 2, nevertheless 3 x 50 g Fingering yarn will be enough).
-
Started 3rd ball of color B with round 30 of the colorwork section.
-
I used 125 g of color B in the yoke = approx. 525 m.
-
Made 2 repititions of round Colorwork 28 at the end of the yoke.
-
Started 2nd ball of color C on round 3 of the lower body.
-
Started 3rd ball of color C on round 15 of the lower body = 12 rounds with a 50 g ball
-
Started 4th ball of color C on round 28 = 13 rounds with a 50 g ball
-
Started 5th ball of color C on round 41 =13 rounds with a 50 g ball
-
According to the pattern the lower body is (28 - 10 ) 18 cm = 41 rounds. My row gauge is different, so my 41 rounds are 22.5 cm - but still much too short for my 4XL figure :). Up to there I used up 205 g = 860 m of color C. Added another 4 rounds before starting the border (total of 45 rds) - used up 220 g = 924 m of color C before starting the border.
-
Hem: as in the pattern, but I did a total of 10 repeats of rounds 7 and 8. Used up 30 g = 126 m of color C and 80 g = 336 m of color B.
My sleeve:
round 1: I started the sleeve with sc, 9 hdc, 3hdctog in the “corner”, 73 hdc, 3hdctog in the “corner”, 9 hdc. = 94 sts,
round 2: hdc in hdc, corners: 4dctog = 88 sts,
rounds 3-6: hdc in hdc, corners: 2dctog = 86/84/82/80 sts,
10 rounds hdc,
then ((2hdctog in the underarm, hdc along), 4 rounds hdc) for 3 times = 79/78/77 sts,
then (2hdctog in the underarm, hdc along) = 76 sts,
1 round hdc,
finish sleeve as size 2XL.
Colorwork rounds 7 and 8 for a total of 10 times, on the last round 8 (dc, 2dctog, sc) around = 56 sts.
hdc around, mark first hdc as BOR, 3 rounds, ss to fasten off.
sleeve length from yoke: 32 cm
used up color C 40 g, color B 17 g for one sleeve
My neckline:
I added a neckline border because the neckline was too wide.
Round 1: Start in the middle of the back neckline. With color A, start with a standing dc and work Colorwork row 1 between the chains / sts but with ch3 instead of ch4. Close rnd with ss into first dc, change to color B.
Round 2: With color B, work Colorwork round 2 but with ch1 instead of ch2. Close rd with ss into first dc, change to color A.
Round 3: With color A, ch3, (fpdc aound 3dctog -the first one is slightly backwards-, ch4), close rd with ss into first fpdc, change to color B.
Round 4: With color B, ch1, (3dctog in 3 dc of same color of rd 2, ch3), close rd with ss into first 3dctog, change color to A, cut color B.
Round 5: With color A, ch3, (2fptrtog around same and next fpdc of same color 2 rows below, ch1, 4dctog around ch3 of previous round, ch1), close rd with ss into first 2fptrtog, cut off.
My neckline used 7 g of color A and 5 g of color B.
Leftovers: A - 25 g, B - 24 g, C - 19 g
Total length 89 cm - see my measurements in the photo, measured after washing and slightly blocking
