Switch to 4.0mm needles, increase 8 sts 1st rnd
knit 1 rnd even
k1, inc, k2, inc, k to end. Increase rnd ever 3rd rnd, keeping increases on outside of gusset. Work 5 increase rounds, 3 rnds even after last increase

K1, make thumb with next 12 sts (CO 2 extra to cover gap)

k 13 rnds, k2tog around, k 1 rnd even, k2tog x2, k3tog, break yarn & draw through

Join yarn after 1st st, pick up & knit 3 sts at base of thumb, k to end of round (round still ends in same place)

switch to pink 6 rnds, 6 rnds navy, 6 rnds pink (total count, not just below needles). Break pink, weave in ends

4 rnds navy, start decrease - 5 decrease points, alternate with rounds of plain knitting.
