Update 1

I’ve found that this is a really fun project to improvise with. Since I’m using a thicker yarn, the fp/bp stripe rows got to be a little thick. And since I wanted this to be reminiscent of the patchwork fabric, I decided to just play with it and give it a unique feel all its own. So after the first few rows, I totally just went off pattern and did some different stitches on the rows.

As for the smaller squares, I changed that pattern up too. I am more a fan of organic styles than geometric ones, and this was looking a little too much iron cross for me. So I changed it to be more of a starburst/floral center instead.

The bigger squares I left as is, but I added a little bit of embroidery here and there just for the heck of it. And I’ll probably add some more of it later on as well.

I’m thoroughly enjoying this pattern so far!

My inspiration for the colors for this afghan come from this fabric that I found at a thrift store.
