I really enjoyed making the squares - the pattern is so interesting.

I decided that a blanket just of the CofS squares would be a little too much so decided to break it up with something less intricate but in a similar style.

The navy blue square is my own design, patter given below if anyone is interested. (US terminology used)

R1: 12 dc (make first dc a standing dc) in magic circle. Sl st into first Dc to join
R2: Chain 1 (does not count as stitch) and then work 2dc in each of the dc of the previous round. Sl st in first dc to join (24 dc)
R3: work this round in BLO. *sc in first dc, ch 2, skip 1dc. Rpt around previous round then join with slst in first sc. (12 sc, 12 ch2 spaces).
R4: slst into first ch2 space. Chain 1 (does not count as stitch) *3dc in ch2 space, ch2, 1dc in next ch2 space. Rpt from * until end of round. Join with sl st in first dc. (6 3dc groups, 6 single dc, 12 Ch2 spaces).
R5: Slst to central dc of first 3dc group. Chain 1 (does not count as stitch).*1dc, 5 chain, 1dc in next single dc, 5ch. Rpt through entire round. Join with slst into first dc. (12 dc, 12 ch5 spaces)
R6: Sl st into ch5 space. Chain 1 (does not count as stitch). Work 6 hdc into each 5ch space of R5. (60 hdc)

R7 and R8 of this square is the same as the final two rounds of each of the Circles of the Sun square, as I wanted to make the final stitch counts match for sake of ease of joining.

I joined the squares using a slst seam on the wrong side.

The border I made up as I went along, using a few (very simple) overlay techniques.

All in all, a really fun project.
