Notes

25-05-2023

Going to use stashed 8ply cotton. Intention is to work in blues, greens, yellows and pinks to create a gradient affect from top left corner down to bottom right.

28-05-2023

Have used most of the blues, purples and mauves, now onto the greens and yellows. I think it will be 8 x 8 when done, which is about 1m squared without the border.

Not yet sure of the border I will use - will have to see how it looks when joined.

Now completed 32 squares

25-06-2023

60 squares done. I think I have enough yarn for at least 90 squares but may be fewer depending on quantities.

05-07-2023

Completed 80 squares and now sewing together using an invisible mattress stitch join. It’s slow going but the finished result is worth it.

09-07-2023

I’ve finished seeing the squares together and now I just need to figure out how to edge it. I think something simple would be best. I have some light grey and white yarn I could use but I think a darker colour might be better. Unfortunately I don’t have enough in any dark shades I could use and I don’t want to buy any new yarn because this is primarily a stash buster.

14-07-2023

Finished with a simple border using colours I had enough of to complete full rows (jade green, purple and crimson). The final row is alternating crab stitch and reverse slip stitch.

It weighs 1.2kg and measures 1.64m x 1.22m. I achieved my aim of making a big dent in my 8ply cottons!
