Will want to use a smaller hook so will need to increase repeats in order to get the size I want. Looks like it’s a 20 row repeat and I think I’ll also want to increase the depth

Starting with 462 DC (American terms) which is about 170cm. I am doing a multiples of 20 plus 2 which should be enough for the pattern section. I will also do a test section of the pattern to see if it’s possible to repeat to make it deeper.

Did 19 rows of the initial section before moving to lace. A test swatch suggests I can repeat rows 12 to 22 to get a wider shawl. I’ve measured and think I will need to do 5 repeats to get to the 68cm width I’m aiming for.

Finished crocheting and weaving in the ends. What a massive project. Will take more photos and block tomorrow.

Blocking now. On the mats it is 169cm x 73cm.

I did 4 repeats of rows 12 to 22 to get the added width in the lace section.

Doing such a large project in lace weight on a 2mm hook is not for the faint-hearted but the sense of achievement is satisfying.
