This seems by now a very long term project. I awakened it to life again (January 13th, 2008) because I couldn’t make up my mind and suffered from an acute spell of startitis. So I ripped back a few not so promising projects and decided to to something about slumbering WIPs (I refuse to call them UFOs). Coming out of the storing bag it is smiling at me again.
The wool was sorted color wise and spun up, then Navajo plied so as not to loose the color definition. It is going to be a sweater for arctic climates.
I want to make a placket opening at the neck so as not to have make up all over the collar band when slipping in to it. This sweater is my first attempt at steeks. Keep your fingers crossed it will work out as planned.
My handspun is widely off gauge and I had to add another pattern in the side panels and am reconsidering and changing some of the details.
The second picture shows the original from Meg Swansen’s wonderful book.
After thinking about this some more I decided to make it into a jacket as the sweater would be to warm altogether. The buttonbands and neckband are done, one sleeve is almost done. I should work on it some more…. but I hear its snoring out of the WIP container.
