Months ago, my mom helped me choose colors for some design submissions made in Cascade 220 Superwash (here and here). It was actually the deadline for the first one that caused me to delay making her a bedspread for her birthday.
Anyway, she fell in love with these two colors and mentioned they would look lovely as a cabled pillow (hint, hint). I misplaced the scrap of paper with the colorways listed on it until about a week before her birthday. Luckily, both colors were in stock at my favorite LYS, Knitty City!
Let’s see if I can design and knit a beautiful cabled pillow in a week.
Updated 2/18: I decided to go with a pattern that uses regular, traveling, and plaited cables. If I knit a bit each day, hopefully I can finish by Saturday. I’ll probably crochet the back to save time. I do love how the two strands look held together.
Updated 2/23: I finished around 1 a.m., just in time for the big bday today. Why doesn’t Rav allow crochet & knit? I did cables on one side and a quasi Sunny Spread crocheted on the back. I used my N (9 mm) hook as well as a J-10 (6 mm) crochet hook for the edging. For the front, I held one strand of each yarn together. For the back (crocheted part), I held two strands of the 1947 Amethyst Heather together.
2/23 post-birthday update: My mom loved the pillow, and was willing to overlook my mistake as a design element :).
