Notes

Using Extended FPDC.

Hat 1
Weight: 52g
Crown (end of Round 8): 6 3/4” across.
Final: 7 1/4” Long and 18 1/2” circumference
- Because of smaller hook and thinner yarn, I’ve got to figure out how to expand the crown to the right size. Trying this:
- Round 6: Work even on 60 stitches (5” dia)
- Round 7: Increase row and adding more FPDC. Pattern is ExFPDC 2x, DC, 2 DC in next stitch, DC, ExFPDC 2x. (72 stitches, 6” dia)
Unfortunately, the even number of stitches between the exFPDC messes up the future ribbing…
- Round 8: Increase row. ExFPDC 2x, DC, 2 DC in next stitch, DC 2x, ExFPDC (84 stitches, 6 3/4” dia)
- Rounds 9 - 17: work even in established pattern.
- At the end of Round 10, depth is 4”
- At end of Round 15, depth is almost 6” Weight is 40g
- Finish with 2 rounds ribbing per pattern.
- Completed 7/5/2024

Hat 2
Weight: 37g
Crown (end of Round 7): 6” across.
Final: 7” Long and 17 1/2” circumference
- Making a second one with regular DC not FPDC.
- Increases through Round 7 ending with 72 stitches to make this one a bit smaller.
- Rounds 8-15: work even. Did some rounds BLO.
- Round 16: Worked the DC in back and third loops.
- Finish with one round of SC in back and third loops and one more round SC.
- Completed 7/10/2024

Yarn Notes - Stone Washed Minerals
Hat 1: Excited to try this yarn but so far it’s been knotty! Two knots in the first 25g! And after the knot, there are excessively long sections of white yarn. Becoming discouraged with this yarn. But no knots in the rest of the skein.

Hat 2: Second skein had the first knot about the same time as the first skein, after 10g of use. Second knot after using 22g. Third knot about 2 yds. after I finished this hat ~37g into skein. And there were two more knots after that. Five knots total in this skein. Do not work through the knots - they untie too easily to leave them in the project.

Both skeins have blobs of the coloring material and thin spots in the yarn that I’ve been trimming away. See picture. Pretty yarn when it’s good.

Hat 3
- Red Heart Super Saver
- Red Boye J Hook
- Begin 10/22/2024
- Crown measures 6 1/2”.
- Did the ribbing rounds as standard Post stitches (no extended)
- Circumference measures 19” unstretched
- Height is 8 1/2”
- Completed 10/28/2024
