(23) Squared Ripple Block (6 Total)

Project info
Squared Ripples by Kati Donahue
Crochet
Afghan block
Afghan Squares for Pine Ridge
12" Square
Hooks & yarn
6.0 mm (J)
Red Heart Super Saver (Solids)
2.1 skeins = 764.4 yards (699.0 meters), 415 grams
Notes

Red Boye J hook this time because the I hook and the fatter RHSS make too dense/stiff a block.

Changing colors every two rounds. Used Spring Green, Turqua, and Amethyst.

Pattern Modification:
Using the old trick of a half double crochet join in place of a chain 2 in the corner to position the hook at the first stitch of each round instead of the second. This keeps the seam in the corner instead of in the body of the square. Use a different corner to start each color.

Hints
- When doing the BLO SC in the Drop DC, catch the BL of the skipped stitch in the row below to close the gap.
- Carry yarn up the back using an I hook. Make 4 long slip stitches (one per row). At the edge, chain 1 and do first BLO SC in the second chain of the corner as usual.

Measurements
End of Round 6: 4” square
End of Round 12: almost 8” square

Yarn usage
- Each square weighs approx. 75g.
- Square uses 20-25g each of black, color, and white.
