Yarn used in this project (discontinued)

  • SuperBooSilk in blueberry (held double)
  • SuperBooSilk in cornflower (held double)

3.5mm circular needles
Co 10sts

First toe cap:
M1 increases each side every other row to 20 sts

Foot:
Knit to where you want your heel
Either work your heel now (I used an FLK heel)
OR knit one line with waste yarn (and do an afterthought heel later)

Knit to where you want your cuff, increasing as necessary
Knit a round of waste yarn leaving a short tail (this is where you’ll separate the socks later)

Continue to work second sock cuff down, decreasing as necessary

Knit to where you want your second heel
Either do second heel or knit one line with waste yarn and do an afterthought heel later

Knit to top of second toe box
begin ssk and k2tog decreases every other row to 10sts & use kitchener stitch to close.

Separate Socks:
Pick up stitches at cuff line (I use a crochet hook to make it easier)
Snip the yarn and pull the waste yarn until the pieces are separate

Switch to smaller needles & accent color yarn
Knit ribbing pattern to desired length.

Repeat cuff on other sock
Complete afterthought heels if necessary.

Weave in ends.
Yay two socks!

So… why ToeToToe?

  • Because it works up faster than traditional two-at-time method
  • If you like using DPNs you can with this method versus the standard two-at-a-time that requires circulars
  • Less fuss than doing two at a time because I only have one object to handle and one cake of yarn to deal with at at a time
  • I can use up all my yarn by just making a long tube In this project I knew where I was putting my cuff line, but if you don’t know how much yarn you have to work with you can just knit until you’re out then cut. You’ll lose a round or two since you didn’t use waste yarn, but it works.
