Knitting up my gauge swatch. The yarn is Elann Superwash Chunky, but it’s more like a heavy worsted, so I think it will work.

Gauge was slightly off, but it will work out because the finished result will actually be around 43” which is perfect for me--still gives me some ease, but not quite as much as the 45”. Row gauge is right on. Woohoo!

Well, I had to rip back about thirty rows because I’m a doofus. And by that, I mean that I decided to start turning the cables every 4 rows instead of every 6 rows for some reason. It looked a bit off, but I couldn’t quite figure out why. D’oh!

I have made quite a bit of progress. The pattern really is pretty easy to memorize, and the cables and lace at the ends keep it interesting.

Up to about 14 1/2” from picot hem. I took the sweater off the needles and put it on waste yarn and tested to see where it would fall (estimating of course) by holding it around myself just below where the yoke would begin based on the photo, and then another three inches lower. I am short and short-waisted so I think I will begin the yoke shaping at about 15” instead of 18”. It would fall fairly close to the same place past my hips (maybe a bit shorter) as the original photo and I think it would flatter me more (especially since I am very blessed in the booty department).

Past the armholes and working the yoke. Woo Hoo! :)

And after an eventful month that left me with little knitting time---I had a knitting frenzy for the past few days and just bound off the last stitch. I just need to weave in ends, block and add closures and then Isabella-she is done. Woo!

Ordered some clasps from Buttondrawer.com so I can get this sweater done. It does fit me perfectly.

Finally got the seams woven in and the clasps attached, plus photos taken. Yay!

I’m making the cables symmetrical. Because I’m obsessive that way…
-
I’m also thinking about doing a frog closure or two instead of buttons. (Actually I’ve decided to do this, just to have it look a little different. And in the spirit of complete honesty--to get out of making buttonholes).

Making it a bit shorter (see notes above).

Bound off four extra stitches for armholes to make up for gauge difference.
