Notes

This pattern comes from Lion Brand’s Learn to Knit a Sweater book. It doesn’t appear to be in the Ravelry library.

This sweater basically consists of 5 rectangles, all knit in garter stitch: one back rectangle, two front rectangles, and two rectangles for the sleeves. Although the book was supposed to teach you about knitting a sweater, it had no information about finishing, so I whip stitched it with embroidery floss. In retrospect, I don’t think it looks quite as bad as I though it did, and if I had tried to do mattress stitch with Homespun, I might have sworn off knitting forever. Besides, my mom refuses to let me unseam it and redo it, because she likes it just the way it is. (Gotta love a mom, right?)

The crocheted button band, on the other hand, with the crochet loops and barrel buttons, were added later at the request of my mom because she wanted to be able to button the sweater closed. This was a good idea, because the sweater is boxy, ginormous on her, and very very floppy.
