Notes

I tend to crochet tightly, so I chose a 6 mm hook for most of the blanket. I probably should have chosen 5.5. It is a little loose, but that does make if seem softer.

I used a 7 mm hook for the wheels.

I used three colors chosen by the receiver of this baby gift. By choosing three colors, I have not had to cut the yarn yet. I have been able to drop it and pick it back up when changing colors from that side again later. It does limit the combinations, but it also makes it so I don’t have to think about which color to choose next.

I am making a baby blanket, so I started with 98 stitches (96 +2). 96 is divisible by 24, then added the 2 chains at the end for the next row.

Redid the star stitch with the larger hook. Also redid one row of dc three times to get the count right between stitches. Finished row 25 tonight.

I skipped row 26, so the three bobble stitch pattern rows would start on the back side. Row 25 (also 26 now) is used as the foundation, so 28 will be Hdc too.

For row 27 I’m carrying the accent color.
I divided 98 by 7 so decided to have every 7th stitch be the bobble stitch. Then for row 28A, I carried the accent color Adam, but realized it would look better to either keep the main color or carry the other color. I decided to carry the other color to prevent having all three on the same side again. I prefer this to tying off and starting again at the other end.

I messed up the math the first time and redid row 27. Then carried the wrong color, so redid row 28A.

I added a Hdc for row before row 28, so it would mirror the first part of this section.

By adding row 28A, the next section starts on a right/front side

Stopped for the night in the middle of row 31

I did not like row’s sc row over the waves, and didn’t think to look ahead. I kept it the same but will redo this row again tomorrow.

Row 47. After stars, doing dc because I like the symmetry.

Finished row 54.

I kind of wish the sections were in an order to offer better symmetry.

Add dc row before 55.
Hdc doesn’t look good when starting on the wrong side.
This will also allow bobbles to be made from the back side as they should be and used the main color I have more of.

Making this 3-row bobble pattern with hdc

Stopped after finishing row 76. Then started sc around the border. This is front/right side.

Sc one color around twice. The side borders look smaller so on the third round kept sc on the top snd bottom, but hdc on the sides. Now they seem to be the same. I added crab stitch (reverse sc) in accent color fourth round.
