using leftovers from High Society Hat.
What’s there to love about this pattern? Just about everything. I love that you can use just about any yarn on the planet. Skeins leftover from other projects (this is one is from the High Society Hat and the Gone with the Windy hat, both designed by Annie Modesitt). Future yarns I have in mind for this pattern: Berroco Seduce, and maybe some beaded yarns for the holidays.
Is there anything you didn’t like? If I didn’t track of my stitches, I paid for it a row or two later. So mind your stitches, especially the yarn-overs. They are your friends. Truly.
How portable is this project?Extremely so. I would say you could easily stuff a short circular and the skein of your choice in your purse and keep yourself busy for a while. One steady sitting produces a circle…five per week, you’ve got yourself a collar for a date on Saturday.
Which brings me to my next question. Is this a little frilly? How are you going to wear this? How I’m not going to wear is really the question. This one is so versatile…it’s amazing. I can wear it with my collection of stretch lace tops…and when it gets colder, find a yummy collegiate style sweater. Oh, and you don’t have to wear it button front. You can wear it to the side. In the back. I also plan to wear this collar and the other versions with collection of vintage pins…another reason why I made the button more or less invisible. I want the collar to be the star of the show, any pin I put on it to be the back up singer.
Where did you get the button? Is it vintage? No, it’s not vintage. Although it looks like it…I got it at my favorite fabric in the whole wide universe at Vogue Fabrics in Evanston, IL. So cute.
Tell me about the hat that you’ve paired the collar with… That’s the High Society Hat by Annie Modesitt. Isn’t it darling? I think the collar and the hat were meant for each other. They both want to go to Ascot and the Kentucky Derby. I tell you my accessories ask to much. When they squawk too much, back into the closet they go.
One more thing. Those photos…how did you do them? They’re so cool. Oh those were taken with the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. I totally prefer the Hipsta over the built-in camera.
