Notes

I’ve been knitting sock blanks in various shapes and experimenting with painting them with dyes to see what I can get in the way of color spread. I first knit a pair of socks without dyeing, weighed them, then made my sock blanks that weight plus about 10% to make sure I’d have enough for the socks. The blanks range in weight from 2.4 oz to 3.0 oz (in case I wanted to make a larger pair). The first blank (greens and black) was an 80 stitch wide blank made two strands at a time on size 10 needles.

Sept. 12: I’ve added some more blanks and the socks that go with them. I’ve been playing with the geometry of the blank and various crochet stitches to get different densities of yardage for a variety of dye outcomes. So far, no disasters, and some work pretty well (the striped ones are pretty predictable, for example)
