Update:

I managed to get the blanket back from Tasha at last. So I can now put right what was wrong and add the babies name.

First I removed the offending leaves from the bottom of the tree trunk and then with my heart in my mouth, I chopped a couple of inches from the bottom of the tree. I took a chance because I would have had to remove all of the tree from the blanket if it had gone wrong, but thankfully I was able sc over the raw edge and got it looking neat, then I promptly covered it with some bushes!!

I then made a colourful caterpillar with the letters of the babies name and added a little ladybird and last but not least I added the monkeys missing tail.

All done and waiting for Susie to take back tonight.

I am very glad to have this one completed now, it was bugging me each time I spotted it on my project page.

I have a week to complete this blanket, it is going to be for dd Susie’s best friend Tasha, who is having her baby shower next weekend. The babies nursery is Jungle themed.

I think I will be able to do it in time she says with fingers crossed!!

I am using the animal appliques from the Noah’s Ark blanket, but using ColoradoMom’s great idea and following her directions to make the tree, although I had to make it bigger, as I am using dk instead of worsted.

All done except for the name. When Tasha has baby I will put the name on and the missing monkey tail whoops. I will probably add some flowers too.

It was a little rushed to get it finished, I was up until 1.30 last night sewing on the appliques and then at 7.30 this morning adding the border and then it had to be washed and dried.

Tasha loved the blanket and her MIL Sally cried when she saw it, I hope they were tears of joy!

Baby James arrived 2nd June, weighing in at 7lbs 11oz, he is a beauty. I will put a photo on if I can later.

With beige
1: chin shaping 2ch, 6 sc into second chain
2: 2 sc into each st.
3: sc, 5 dc, sc into one st, sl st around and repeat to make the eye shaping*
With brown make a circle up to 30 sc, repeat from * to ** of rd 3 for the ears.

Arms: ch 21, sc 20.

Lion:
With gold, make circle to 36 sts
With brown
1: Ch 6, 12 dc into ring
2: Dc, ch 1 all around
3: 3dc into each ch1 space
4: Sc, 5 dc, ch 2, sl into 1st st, sk 1 st and repeat all around.
Ears with yellow, 2sc, 3d, ch 2 sl st into any st, then sl st around to compete second ear.
