This is number 8 NAB, I always make one for all new family babies. This is for our new grandson (grandchild number 5) due in September 2013.

Making NAB numbers 8 and 9 together, working on them in between other projects.

I always dc 6 in between the peaks and valleys, instead of 3.

Yikes, is it September already? I really don’t know where the time goes. I had better get on with this one or baby will beat me.

I decided to add a bear this time. This is how I made him.

Head:
In brown 2ch, work 6hdc into the second chain from hook .Carrying on in a spiral, 2hdc into each stitch until 30 sts. 1hdc into next st, 2hdc into next st until 50 sts, st, sc into next stitch sl st into next st.

Ears.
hdc, 2 dc, 2 tbc into next st. 2 tbc, 2dc, hdc into next st*
sc into next st, sl st into next 5 sts, then repeat from * to ** for second ear, sc into next st, sl st into next st and fasten off.

Nose.

In lighter colour 2ch, 6sc into 2nd ch from hook until 12 sts continue in spiral. 1sc into next st, 2sc into next st, repeat until 24 sts, sl st into next st and fasten off.

Sew nose to head and embroider nose and eyes with black yarn.

Just when I finished the last stitch, Oscar George was born 2 weeks early on the 24th September 2013, weighing-in at 8lbs 10ozs, a baby brother for Eva (3) and Sonny (1). Bless his little cotton socks!
