Another granny square blanket. This one is for Sophie who is 6 now.

Sophie loves all things unicorn and pastel shades.

I made Sophie a baby blanket and a slightly larger blanket when she got older.

Now she needs a grown up blanket.

Stats:

11 x 16
6 round granny squares. 4 rounds assorted - last 2 rounds the same.

I try to not repeat the centre and last round colours in a row, horizontally or vertically.

To aid this I use my little granny square tool which I make by joining a starter square in each colour and join them with 10 chain stitches in between each square.

Then I can gather all of the colours I’ve used in a row and choose from the remaining squares for my next granny. It’s a real time saver. I’ve put a photo in, so you can see what I mean.

I added a name panel in the centre bottom row which takes up 5 granny squares.

I chart the name out on graph paper first.
For 6 round granny squares I use 89 sts x 19 rows of sc and join to the blanket with granny st. I’ve added a picture of my chart for reference.

Border:

1-4. Granny clusters

1. Sc in pink with 3 sc’s in each corner
2. With wrong side facing, starting in middle sc of corner. 1 trc + 1sc, 1 trc in next st, 1 sc in next st to next corner.
