Another star blanket for the next baby boy.

Baby Lucas was born 25th June, 2021, weighing 8 lbs 13 ozs. Welcome to the world baby Lucas.

We have two friends of the family having babies this year.

Thought I would get it made while I was deciding on my next project.

These star blankets are always well received. I think they are especially nice for newborns.

For the border, I just went around with a crab stitch to finish it off.

I’ve noticed that my blankets don’t lie flat, so I’ve adjusted the pattern sequence to address this

This is my alteration if you’re interested:

Rounds 1 - 5 as pattern
Round 6 Small shell + 2 dc’s
Round 7 Large shell + 2 dc’s
Round 8 Large shell +3 dc’s
Round 9 Small shell + 4 dc’s
Round 10 Large shell + 4 dc’s
Round 11 Large shell + 5 dc’s

When you look at the pattern it is 2 rounds with large shell and the 3rd round with small shell, which keeps it flat.

The pattern is written with rounds 4, 5 and 6 with large shells, so by changing round 6 to small shells is keeping the sequence correct and the right amount of increased stitches.
