Notes

This is going to be Blanket No: 6 of my Stash-Down Blanket Extravaganza, see all of the other blankets here that my daughter Libby and I have made this year with the stash yarn we hope to use up.

I am going to make this one for dd Cathy’s Godson Thomas. I made a couple of blankets for Thomas when he was born and he has grown out of his Noah’s Ark blanket now.

Thomas loves cars, so I thought I would put a grey strip on the bottom of the blanket for the road and add a couple of applique cars.

This one should use up a fair bit of the yarn.

For the road I thought I would use hdc in each stitch rather than the dc granny clusters. It would make a more solid road for the cars and would make the sewing-on of appliques easier

I followed the basic idea from Cloudy Day Ripple Throw, although I had more granny clusters in my throw.

This is what I did:

2ch, sk 1st granny cluster, hdc in each st until you get to ch 3 space at peak. (11 hdc including the ch 2) 3 hdc in chain 3 space, hdc in next 9 sts (should finish in st before dcCluster, skip both dc Clusters and hdc back up to peak (9 hdc) then 3 hdc in ch 3 space.

So you do 11 hdc up first slope, 3hdc in ch 3 space, then 9hdc in between the dk Clusters in valleys.

When you want to go back to granny clusters.

Ch 3, skip 1 st, Cluster in next st, (sk 2, cluster) x 2, sk 2, Cluster ch 3, Cluster in ch 3 space at peak , (sk 2, Cluster) x 2, sk 2 Cluster 3 tog, sk 1 st, Cluster 3 tog (for valley).
