As my daughters friends are having babies this year (5 in total so far), I thought I would start a baby blanket using up some of my extensive stash of double knit weight yarn.

This one is probably more suited to a girl and as I won’t know the sex of any of the babies to be born this year until they arrive, I will have to make girl blankets and boy blankets.

I do have a couple of girl blankets left over from last year as all of the babies were boys, so I hope we get some girls this year.

Gifted to our new great niece Constance. She is a beautiful little girl and her mummy loved it:)

I started the square with one row of dc instead of 2 of sc, it looked neater I think.

Deciding how to join these little beauties. I don’t know whether to just join as I go or add another granny row and then join, or dc all around and sc them all together. Decisions, decisions!

I ended up dc around each square and then joined with sc

Border:-

Round 1 bpdc around each dc with 2 dc, 2ch, 2dc for corners.

Round 2 Crossed dc all around with 2dc, 2ch 2dc for corners.

Round 3 “V” stitch all around with 2 dc, 2ch 2dc for corners.

Round 4 2 dc, 2ch, 2dc for corner, sc into first space of v stitch, 2dc, 1tb,2dc into next v stitch all around.
