This one is going to be for middle daughter Cathy. She has chosen purple because it was her Dads favourite colour.
We have a couple of these blankets in the lounge already, but we need just one more!
The colour is beautiful, but quite dark to work with.
The photos don’t do the colour justice. I will try to get better photos
I must say that I have been converted to Stylecraft Special D.K. I always use the Aran/Worsted Weight, but thought (wrongly) that the d.k. was rather fine, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it for this blanket.
The range of colours is second to none, I have recently bought a shade-card and I think I will be working my way through all of the vibrant colours on offer.
You can find Bonnies how to tutorials on all of the stitches used here
Take a look at all of my Aran Blankets here, you could say that I am addicted to making these!
Stats:-
Chain 233 = 232 sts.
Started with a couple of rows of sc, followed by low ridge for the edging, then another couple of rows of sc and started the pattern of low ridge and cable. I find this is a nice edging.
For a few tips see below:-
Popcorn - 4 + 1 over 4 rows (I always use dc instead of sc and don’t change hook size as recommended, (I make my Popcorns with 4 dc ch1 sc ch1 4dc popcorn).
Cable = 3 + 1 over 2 rows
Arrow = 4 + 2 over 2 rows
Celtic Weave = 4 + 2 over 4 rows (I would use a size larger hook for this one as it does nip in at the edges)
Basket-weave = 6 + 1 over 6 rows (I always use a size smaller hook for this pattern) I used 3.50 hook.
