Thought I would go with a completely different colour this time. Bought just the grey initially and then decided that it was a little dark on it’s own, so got some silver for the border panels and very pleased that I did.
I am liking the two greys together, although I don’t know who will end up with this one, but I am sure someone will claim it before it is completed.
Always happy with one of these throws on the hook in the background whilst making other more colourful projects at the same time, although it does go against my rule of only one project at a time, but these don’t count:)
Gifted this blanket to my oldest grandson William, as he asked me to make him one like his Aunty Cath’s here. He was thinking he would have to wait for me to make it, but went home with it the same day a very happy boy.
For a few tips see below for sts used in these throws:-
Popcorn - 4 + 1 over 4 rows (I always use dc instead of sc and don’t change hook size as recommended, (I make my Popcorns with 4 dc ch1 sc ch1 4dc popcorn).
Cable = 3 + 1 over 2 rows
Arrow = 4 + 2 over 2 rows
Celtic Weave = 4 + 2 over 4 rows (I would use a size larger hook for this one as it does nip in at the edges)
Basket-weave = 6 + 1 over 6 rows (I always use a size smaller hook for this pattern and work an extra row of beige before and after the basket-weave to give a neater appearance). (note to self: 1 decrease 3 sts and used 3.75 hook)
You can view all of my Aran Throws here
Stats:- Used 4.00 hook throughout unless otherwise stated.
233 ch = (232 sc)
77 Cables
57/58 Bobbles
57 Arrows
76 Baskets 3.75mm hook
When adding the top and bottom borders in woven stitch, don’t forget to work a sc row first in the colour of the panel, for a neater finish.
