You can find Bonnies tutorials for all of the stitches used in her patterns here.
As you will see, I love Bonnies patterns and have made several here
Bonnies new book Contemporary Celtic Crochet has just become available in the U.K. It is a lovely book with lots of great patterns and detailed picture instructions of how to do the stitches. Well worth getting.
Using 4mm hook throughout except diamond pattern, where I used 3.75mm hook.
Started with the light beige for border.
Alternating colours with cream cable panels.
Ran out of Koala mid brown and they have discontinued it now, so have gone for a dark brown for the centre panel. Sometimes things that happen for the worst, happen for the best. I prefer the brown and wish I hadn’t used the Koala now.
Quite pleased with how it is turning out. Took it to Gt. Yarmouth on a trip for a few days spent with dd and older grands, got a little done on the car journies.
This is going to be worked in between other projects, so I always have something that I can do when I don’t want to concentrate too much.
DD Libby has claimed this one. I didn’t think I would have anyone want it so quite pleased for it to have a home to go to. I will have to get on with finishing it now. I made Libby this blanket and granddaughter Annabel has claimed it, so Libby needed another one for herself and the colours will go quite well with her decor.
We all love our lapghans for the winter months, they are so cosy.See my other aran blankets here
Note to Self:
When adding the top and bottom borders in woven stitch, don’t forget to work a sc row first, changing the yarn colour all along to make it look neater/invisible (see border photo)
For a few tips see below:-
Popcorn - 4 + 1 over 4 rows (I always use dc instead of sc and don’t change hook size as recommended, (I make my Popcorns with 4 dc ch1 sc ch1 4dc popcorn).
Cable = 3 + 1 over 2 rows
Arrow = 4 + 2 over 2 rows
Celtic Weave = 4 + 2 over 4 rows (I would use a size larger hook for this one as it does nip in at the edges)
Basket-weave = 6 + 1 over 6 rows (I always use a size smaller hook for this pattern and work an extra row of beige before and after the basket-weave to give a neater appearance).
