Since I don’t have as many colors in DK weight, I decided to adapt the pattern for fingering weight. I also wanted it to be a little more airy, as I almost always wear a tank under a sweater anyway.
I swatched with US5 and my gauge was about 22.5 sts/4” unblocked. I figured it would be about 22 sts/4” once wet blocked. Swatched so many different color combinations, then I just started getting tired of swatching them, and just put some colors next to each other just to see. And then I decided to just wing it. :)
According to my calculations, if I knit the 36, the bust would be about 34.36”. This would give me a little negative ease (still nursing, but around 35-36 normally). Since my row gauge was around 32 rows/4”, I decided to knit an extra row in the color sequence every 1” or so.
So I followed the directions for the 36” for the most part, except I wanted the yoke depth of the 34” - so that’s about where I was when I separated the sleeves.
I substituted Sunday short rows for the wrap and turns. At the end when picking up the last short row loops, I ended up doing some kind of sl2tog, k1, p2sso to work them together and maintain the V in the front. I decided I wanted a length a little shorter than tunic length, so I knit the body to 14.5” from the underarm before the ribbing. Once I got down to the hem, I just used my US5 gauge needle, since I knit ribbing tightly anyway.
For the sleeves, I worked the first decrease as written for the 3/4 length, then worked my other decreases every 7th row instead. I worked my ribbing on US4.
Oh, and I alternated the main color skeins on the body after the short rows were completed, but not during the ribbing or sleeves.
