Notes

08-08-2024

—Cast on 63 using larger needle then change to smaller
—Knitting w/ChiaoGoo 9 inch circular for the first time.
—K2, P1 ribbing for approx an inch (11 rows)
—total length 5 1/2 inches before starting heel flap

08-11-2024

I misread an instruction and I have knit the tidiest, sturdiest heel flap ever!

I correctly knit my heel flap with slip 1, knit 1 on the knit side, BUT instead of slip 1, purl to end of row on the purl side, I incorrectly did slip 1, purl 1!!! I just thought this was a new-to-me way of knitting an indestructible heel flap. It REALLY does make for a beautiful fabric that looks like very tidy, but dense knit stitches on the right side, and tight purl bumps on the purl side. But because each knit stitch got slipped on the purl side, and each purled stitch was slipped on the knit side, significantly more rows to were knit get to the required 2 inches.

Ripping back, to re-knit the heel flap

08-13-2024

I have knit the heel flap, heel turn, and gusset per pattern, and tried on my sock. It is pulling across the top of my foot. slightly_frowning_face

I think I will need to rip back (again, and make the heel flap longer, then pick up more stitches for the gusset.

08-14-2024

Experimenting with longer 2 1/2 inch heel flap
Picked up & knit 18 stitches plus one leg of 19th stitch twisted on each side of heel flap

08-18-2024

Time for toe decreases. Foot is 7 1/2 - 8 inches from back of heel (depending on stretch.)
— approximately 47 - 48 rows past last gusset decrease row

08-27-2024

Decreased toes to 24 stitches before closing with Kitchener stitch.
