30-05-2016

Increased to 63 sts at toe, added k1 on either side of instep

30-05-2016

Knit to row 20 before starting heel turn. Moved 2 sts from sole to instep: 30sts for heel, 33 sts on instep.

30-05-2016

Attempted heel as written in pattern, foot turned out too short, and there would be big gaps at the corners if I continued with it. So I am ripping back to start of heel and I’m going to do a different heel.

31-05-2016

Started gusset increases (bottom of foot) after chart row 22 on 3rd chart rep. Increased by 28sts for fleegle heel.

31-05-2016

67 sts after heel was complete. Knit plain on back until end of 3rd chart repeat, k2tog middle back stitches on last round, for 33sts on front & back. Working another chart repeat on front & back for ankle.

The picot bind off instructions don’t make sense: if you are casting on 4 sts and then binding 4 off, you are making no progress around the sock. This is clearly not what is depicted in the sample socks. However I didn’t have enough yarn to do a picot bind off anyway because i chose to do a lace repeat on the ankle, so I ended with 4 rows of k2,p2 ribbing and a sewn bind off.

01-06-2016

The toe is horrible - too small & square so I unraveled several rows until I had 28 sts (14 on sole 14 on instep) and grafted.

Thoughts on this pattern: just use the lace chart and ignore the rest! Use your preferred toe, heel and picot bind off. I think also it might be a better fit if I’d gone to 67 sts at the toe before starting the lace pattern.
