March 2 Cast on this afternoon with the objective of learning to cable without a needle. It’s going well. I didn’t read directions carefully enough and inadvertently skipped Round 1 on the cuff, which needs to be repeated on the second sock.

March 4 Ready to divide for the heel. I’ll be knitting a Round Heel, as per instructions in The Sock Knitter’s Workshop.

March 5 Well, I won’t be knitting heels from The Sock Knitter’s Workshop since I am not bright enough to understand the directions, it seems. Instead, I’m knitting a Round Heel from Nancy Bush’s Folk Socks. Honestly, it’s just a regular heel with several stitches across the middle so it’s not very narrow.

March 7 One sock done. Now to cast on the second.
