AAABB
Finally started! I’ve not had much knitting time. I’m choosing my clues based on what will show off the subtle colour variations in my yarn.

8/2/15: Finished 1A. Didn’t swatch cos I just wanted to get started. Fingers crossed.

9/2/15: was planning on 2B but I’ve changed my mind based on wanting to do the smocked choice in 3.

12/2/15: Well, I’m finished 2A but I’m not thrilled with it. Not the pattern - my execution of it. Don’t love my M1L/R as they look too loose. I tried both the YO and backward loop methods and decided on the latter. I’m now considering ripping back and trying the YO. Argh. My yarn isn’t ‘sproing-y’ and I think that is part of the problem. Decided I could live with it.

14/2/15: Started 3A. I really like this one. Almost caught up. Hopefully I won’t be too far behind after this weekend. Although, I can’t decide which clue to do next. More chevrons? Something that looks like it could be a bit ‘heavier’ looking? Eeek. I found it easy to decide up until now.

15/2/15: After a toss of a coin I’ll be doing 4b. I really couldn’t decide. I kind of think it looks a little out of place with my geometrical chevrons but 4a doesn’t quite look right either. I think it’s the scaling of that one - it needs to be bigger, or something. It would be handy to see clue 5 first!f

18/2/14: I have just 4 rows left of 4B so I’m trying to decide on which one to do next. Whilst I love the chunkiness of 5A, and think it would go great with my first 3 choices, I’ve decided to go with B. I think it will help to tie in 4B which otherwise looks a little out of place. Just when you think everything is going well… I started the first row of 5B and didn’t think things were lining up properly. When I did a stitch count I realised that I only had 240. Hmmm. After about 15 mins of head scratching I realised that in the previous clue I ‘closed’ the buds with a SL1, K2tog, PSSO instead of SL1, K2, PSSO. dumb move. So, I’m tinking back the 4 rows to where I started tonight. Who needs a lifeline?!

19/2/15: I’ve now finished Clue 4 and I got 2 rows into 5. Things line up much better now! Wish it wasn’t so hot. I can only knit a few rows before my hands are too clammy to do more.

22/2/15: Knitting is all finished! I did just the 4 extension rows before binding off as I’m happy with the width. I’m hoping to get a little more length when I get to block in a few days.

28/2/15: I’m finally blocking. Someone wrote that they used a strong thread to block the picot edge and I thought it was a good idea. So I pre-threaded that edge with dental floss and then put it in the bath. It made blocking this really easy.

Update 14/3/15: Won First Prize at the Tanunda AH&F Show

Thoughts on the yarn:
I found it to have little stretch/recovery. Which is probably not unusual for a single. Because of this it didn’t cope that well with some aspects of this pattern. MK1L/R are very obvious and loose and there are small gaps either side where the yarn is wrapped. Also I could see this yarn may fuzz if there was a bit of repeated tinking.
