Whilst I ordered this yarn specifically for this shawl it is pure coincidence that the colourway is Thunderstorm. I found this too late to be involved with the MKAL.
6/8/15: Started! I like the colours in this yarn. The twisted stocking stitch doesn’t ‘pop’ due to the single yarn but I still like it. Phases 1 & 2 - Stillness & Wind completed.
8/8/15: Raindrops and The Brief Pause phases also now finished.
9/8/15: Change to longer cable.
22/8/15: Downpour complete! I really like this section. A photo to mark the occasion. Started second skein at end of row 8 of Raindrops\Fading Rain, also now finished.
23/8/15: Being sick over a weekend seems to make me productive. I’ve finished Petrichor and just have the border to go.
25/8/15: The knitting is done! After a bit of trial and error due to the thick/thin singles nature of the yarn I finally found the tension on the Icelandic Bind Off. I’m glad I persevered. I like how it looks even before blocking.
13/9/15: Finally had the weather to block this. Pinned it out yesterday, using the tip I picked up on the KAL thread, by folding it in a half. Genius! Made this so easy to get symmetrical. I didn’t go crazy and really stretch it out aggressively - I just opened it up. Really, really pleased.
I knitted this using the charts exclusively and found the pattern well written and easy to use.
I just love this project. I really enjoyed the knitting process and the finished shawl is beautiful. I love that it is a large shawl, and looks substantial, but is in reality really light to wear.
