Using my go-to plain vanilla toe-up with afterthought heel sock recipe:

In Magic Loop:

• CO 12 sts (24sts total) with Turkish CO method
• TOE: k1, m1r, k to 1 st before end of needle, m1l, k1; rep on other needle. Knit 1 round. Cont until 64 sts total.
• knit 65 rnds (6.75” from tip of toe)
• afterthought heel (k waste yarn on half of sts, sl sts back onto left needle, k using main yarn as per usual)
• knit 72 rnds
• 2x2 ribbing for 22 rnds (2”)
• BO using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy BO

Afterthought heel:

• Without taking out waste yarn, pick up sts on both side of waste yarn. Note: one side will have an extra st.
• Take out waste yarn
• knit 1 rnd, picking up sts between the needles to close the gap. I usually pick up enough to equal 34sts per needle, just makes it easier.
• decrease: k1, ssk, k to last 3 sts on needle, k2tog, k1; rep on other needle. Knit 1 rnd. Cont until 12 sts (24 sts total) remain.
• Graft sts together.
