For this rendition, I decided to try a different, slightly more yarn efficient stitch for the main portion. My stitch dictionary called it the slit stitch. If you look closely, you’ll see that I used a slub yarn for the top part. I had been given just a little, but it was so pretty it needed to be used. So I went with it until it ran out, then changed to solid black. I wish I knew what this yarn is; it’s so cool! It has flecks of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, lilac, and pink. So yeah, basically it matches almost everything-- my recipient was over the moon!

I ended up with five rounds of scallops this time around. The point could do with increasing even on the first round, but I needed it to come to a point properly, and this was what I came up with:
R 1: normal shell
R 2: shell, ch 2, 2 dc
R 3: shell in both ch-2 sps
R 4: shell in both shells from last round and sp between shells
R 5: in middle shell, make 3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr

After blocking, it stayed flat pretty well.
