Basing my stocking from the pattern but combining other fair-isle Charts. Lenghty notes below so I won’t forget what I did.
Main Color (MC): Navy
Contrast Color (CC): White
Cast-on:80 stitches and lavitain braid according to pattern.
Row 1: Knit CC
Row 2: Knit MC
Row 3: Alternate MC & CC
Row 4: MC
Row 5: CC
Rows 6-20: Chart from HoHoHo stocking from here
Rows 21: CC
Start name band-
Used initials from here
Rows 22-46: Chart found on Pinterest worked on stitches 1-40 and initials worked on stitches 41-80 in CC. Chart for stitches 1-40 starts immediately so to center the initials I knit 5 rows of MC before starting and after finishing the initials. I.e start inials on row 6 of chart, ends on row 19.
Row 47-51: Repeat rows 1-5
Row 52-74: Random snowflake chart from Pinterest that had the same stitch count.
Row 75: CC
Rows 76-85: Chart from Pinterest; which will be used to continue down the instep.
Heel Flap/Turn
I’m using circuliar needles so used the first 20 stitches from needle one and last 20 on needle two. If using double pointed needles, stitches from needles 1 & 4.
Followed stitch pattern as in pattern as well as the number of rows to knit for the heel flap, after knitting the appropiate number of rows and not liking the long length frogged back to 15 selvedge stitches then turned heel. But looked weird knitting row 1 of heel flap in MC so I continued in chart pattern for those 15st and started row 2 in MC.
Short row heel but with the higher stitch count-
Row 1: sl 1 stitch purlwise, p21, p2tog, p1, turn
Continue remaining rows as for pattern.
Gussett:
Picked up 16 stitches on one side in MC, continued chart from leg on instep, picked up 17 stitches from other selvedge edge. Rearranged stitches so half of heel and Instep on needle one and the other halves on needle two. Followed pattern directions for gusset decreases but using K1MC, K1CC for gussett and heel stitches, like for the instep on pattern. Continuing established pattern on instep.
Toe
Used the toe directions from the HoHoHo Stocking (see rows 6-20)
On areas with long floats I used the directions from here for laddered jacquard.
After alot of trial and error I found great notes from Tar3820 for casting on with 80 stitches. here
