Notes

Pinhole cast-on: body, dungarees and head.

ARMS: cast on like pattern then knit like an icord but one less stitch than specified by putting a stitch on a locking marker (one that would be at the icord back where the yarn is pulled across). When the icord is complete, use a crochet hook to “ladder-up” the stitch on hold using the stretched ladders created by the icord. A technique learned when making Ysolda’s Belyse gloves.

EYES: using safety eyes but my first one popped through the fabric and it is all a bit fiddly. Realized that the next rnd is a decrease round so waited until decrease round was complete then added eyes. Modified the first decrease to be on the first two stitches so that I could push the eye through the overlapping stitches created by the decrease. The last two stitches of needle two were also knit together so the same technique for the pushing the eye through the overlapped stitches worked. The eye location ends up being one row later than the pattern but looks fine.

EYELIDS: used Trista’s trick of leaving a longer tail when doing the ears and the using this tail to do the eyelids.

CLOTHING

Dungarees: flared pant bottoms. Stockinette bib and icord straps. Slanted pockets.

T-shirt: shorter sleeves for summer.

HAT: cast on 64sts, purl one round, knit 6 rounds, k2tog all around (32 sts), k3 rnds, ear hole placement round next, k5 rounds, dec (k2, k2tog), k 2 rnds, dec rnd (k1, k2tog), k1 rnd, ( k2tog all around) (8 sts). Thread yarn through. (Used smaller needle as yarn was hefty)
