I got talked into running an 8k. It’s on the verge of spring here, but still below freezing in the mornings and evenings. I wanted something to cover my ears (and also to help hold my earbuds in place) while I’m training. Since I still had these colors left over from a mitten project, I decided to make a matching headband that I’ll use while training for this race. Interior is lined with cozy alpaca.
I knew my gage to be 9ish SPI, so I just matched my stitch count to that times my skull circumference, then sized down by one pattern repeat so that it will be a slightly-stretched snug fit. When I tried it on before starting the lining, I think I hit the mark.
The chart is based on a piece of embroidery I found on Pinterest, that unfortunately did not have a source link, only a picture. That original motif is copied onto the top right corner of the left page. I fooled around to figure out a chart size that wouldn’t be too tall/create too wide a head band. The final is the bottom chart of the right page. Notice how the MC and CC are inverse fields of each other! Added a couple Lat. braids for an additional color border.
