I made this as a project to try to get my knitting/crochet mojo back :-)

I hadn’t knitted much for the best part of 6 months and it was nice to have a project I could just pick up and work on, even in front of the telly. The small squares only took 5-10 minutes!

I used 8-ply instead of 4-ply in browns and threw in a pale grey too (although it looks blue in the pictures)

I used the layout from the pattern and made sections 1-7.

I made solid squares instead of changing colours. Early on I planned out what colours I wanted any squares of 6+ rounds to be so I didn’t have any colours touching.

I made random numbers of 4 and 2 round squares. Once I had enough squares I laid it all out and arranged it and re-arranged it till no colours touched (there’s two pale beiges close together but they’re not the same yarn).

I edged it in one round of double crochet.

In the beginning I was daunted by the idea of making something large like a blanket, but it was actually easy. Even the sewing up didn’t take that long.
