Such a fun pattern. I l o v e d knitting every inch of this project. The yarn is as soft as a flower petal on your face. The yarn was gifted by my good friend Lila Sherman-Perez for my birthday. I’ve included a picture of her and our trip to the Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ. Native American needlework is displayed along with ceremonial blankets. Lila achieved local fame as singer in a popular all-female blues band called Sista Blue. My DH Walter modeled the wrap for me. Need to block and order the ribbon. Two little balls left over in my yarn bowl.
The last three photos depict Oleander blocked and modeled by my dear friend Roberta. She blocked it using her super fancy European steamer. Ribbon to be added later.
I want to note that Oleander was knitted while DH and I watched Lost on Netflix streaming. I loved it even more the second time around and finally fully understand the ending. They weren’t all dead-they experienced everything on and off the island. It was very emotional--and--it’s been ten years since the first season. Ten years. Knitting the length of the wrap while watching the show brought relief and comfort when I needed it because I became so immersed in the show.
Mod: I knitted the lace portion of one side, knitted the entire length, knitted the other lace end and did a three needle bind-off instead of grafting the two pieces at the center. The three needle bind-off is virtually undetectable (first photo) as it looks like the garter row.
Thank You Loop London! Someday I hope to visit!
